INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION FOR YOUTH
Tamala Lewis is the Dignity Health Sports Park's Senior Director of Community Affairs and the Foundation. In this position she oversees the Dignity Health Sports Park community affairs, public service events and charity events for the venue.
Tamala served on the Board of Directors at BGCC for 17 years, providing strategic guidance as the organization expanded to serve many thousands more children in the Carson and South Los Angeles communities. Throughout this time, she has mentored Club youth, coordinated donations of sports equipment on behalf of the Los Angeles Galaxy, hosted youth soccer clinics with professional athletes, and more. She has been a terrific cheerleader as the Club navigates through the COVID-19 pandemic, and has provided guidance to staff at all levels in a commitment to eliminate racial inequities for Club kids.
In addition to her involvement with BGCC, Tamala serves on several other community and non-profit boards in Carson and surrounding communities. Tamala is the wife of 4X Olympic Track and Field Medalist, Steve Lewis, and a mother of two daughters. She is also a former recording artist with Columbia/Sony Records, professional dancer for several top recording artists, and clothing designer.
CORPORATE CHAMPION FOR YOUTH
Norm Wilson & Sons, Inc. is a family-owned and operated general contracting firm whose roots lie deep in Southern California. Three generations of Wilsons have been significantly involved in the local building community, bringing together over seventy years of construction experience. This proven experience, along with still-fresh enthusiasm, creates a winning combination that sets the pace for all of their construction projects.
Over the years, employees have volunteered countless hours of service to Club programs, including supporting our Safety Committee, ensuring BGCC facilities are safe and fun places for kids to learn and grow. Recently, the team generously donated over $25,000 in repairs and maintenance work which allowed BGCC to re-open the Main Street clubhouse this past summer in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.
Opening our doors in 1992 with one Clubhouse, today we welcome nearly 1,000 elementary, middle and high school youth each day after school across 8 locations in Carson and South Los Angeles.
Together with our community and corporate partners, we cultivate the ability of kids and teens to dream, discover, and develop into life long learners.
The Blue Door Bash is the Club's annual gala that makes GREAT FUTURES possible for at-risk youth.
